Elías, a banker and the secret leader of a gang, tries to persuade Pedro—the father of young Laura and little Chava—to sell him his ranch. Five friends—the shopkeeper Trini, the blacksmith Quique, the horseman Cuco, the barber Javier, and the doctor Demetrio—serenade Laura.
